About Scouting

Scouting is more than something you do.

Scouting is about learning how to be a good person and a good member of society. It is structured to provide opportunities for learning in a context that is fun, participatory, active and challenging.

Cubs works better when parents get involved. Some parents volunteer as leaders. Some help at planned events. What every parent can and should do is to build an understanding of what Scouting is all about, what is expected of their children and how they can add to their children’s experience outside of meeting nights.

> Learn and know the cub promise, law and motto. Refer to it outside of Cubs as a context for addressing  challenges and opportunities. (Did you do your best? A Cub always does his best.)

> Talk to your Cub about what he or she has done at the meetings.

> Check the schedule and be aware of what we are focusing on.

> Help your Cub to complete the requirements of the badges we are working on, and challenge him or her to really understand what is required.

> Work with your Cub to find badges outside of the planned program that he or she could earn. There is a big difference between group activities and individual accomplishments.
